From the nursery through high school, our goal is to aid parents in the discipleship of their children by offering multiple opportunities for relationship-building, mentoring and Bible teaching. Regarding our Bible teaching, our goal is that it centers on God’s redemption of sinners through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We see the gospel as the key to interpreting and teaching all of the Scriptures, as our Savior is anticipated, promised, or explained in every text of both testaments (See “Our Gospel-Centered Approach“).

Of course, our Bible teaching for adults has the same committed focus on the person and work of Jesus. We are also dedicated to reproducing leaders and teachers by offering training workshops at various times. Discipleship is the key to ministry. We hope to always be reproducing ourselves as we strive to imitate our Redeemer (cf. Ephesians 5:1; Hebrews 13:7).

If you are have any questions about our ministries, please contact the church office: (248) 363-9600 or E-mail Church Office. Below is a sampling of the ministries that area available at ULBC:

Sunday School

Classes are offered for all ages, from the smallest of our church family in the nursery up through our adult classes, including dedicated classes for Middle-Schoolers & High-Schoolers.

Children’s Church

This teaching time is offered for Grades 1-4 during the worship hour for those who do not wish to keep their little ones in the sanctuary throughout the sermon.

Youth Group

Our teens are led by a dedicated Student Ministry Team which will have a significant addition October 1st when Dan & Krissy Seidelman as Dan joins our ministry staff. This vibrant ministry includes Sunday School teaching, Youth Group teaching and fellowships, in addition to service opportunities and outings. Those in the student ministry are seen as being at a particularly strategic age for gospel conversations and meaningful discipleship. For this reason, it is not uncommon to see one of the pastors or other leaders in the teaching rotation and at youth events.

Family Discipleship Nights

On the 1st Sunday Night during the months of September – May (however, due to Labor Day, we meet the 2nd Sunday in September) we have Family Discipleship Nights. The goal is three-fold: (1) come alongside parents in the great call to disciple their children, (2) provide an opportunity for families to spend some ministry time together, and (3) provide fellowship among families.

It begins with a simple meal at 5:30pm and is followed by a brief worship opening with the entire family, age-specific classes (all ages learning the same basics of doctrine to be followed up at home), and an all-family activity.

Men’s Ministry

As the leaders of their homes and the local church, it is our desire to equip men to fulfill those roles. We are therefore committed to providing biblical teaching and practical mentoring through Bible studies, service projects, spiritual retreats, and specialized workshops and conferences.

On Thursday mornings (7-8am), beginning September 10, we will be studying through Wayne Grudem’s book Bible Doctrines. Having the book is critical for your participation, so contact the church office to obtain your copy. If you cannot afford one, simply let Pastor Jeff know and you will be provided one. Bring a cup of coffee, your book and your Bible … we will provide the pastry and the teaching.

Every odd year (2011, 2013, etc.), we co-host a Michigan Men’s Conference – Fellowship in the Gospel. We also plan a road trip to attend the Together for the Gospel Conference in Louisville, KY (held every even year).

Women’s Ministry

One of the keys to a church’s overall health and good reputation in the community is for its women to be mature in the faith.

Older women . . . are to teach what is good, and so train the young women . . . For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” Titus 2:3-4, 11-14

Our women are valuable gifts to our church and co-heirs of the grace of life. We are committed to honoring them and equipping them through prayer, Bible studies, fellowship opportunities, and mentoring partnerships.
